Growing up in Orlando, Florida, I was always surrounded by the magic of Disney. Princesses practically lived in my backyard, and I could visit their beautiful castle whenever I wanted. For countless Halloweens, I wore my favorite Snow White dress, and sang those famous Disney tunes at the top of my lungs. Disney magic was my life. But as a child, I never really knew the impact that magic would have on my life.
In May of 2018, my good friend, Patrick Kling, approached me with an idea. Being another Disney fan, he said we should combine our love of writing and Disney in to a book. After numerous writing sessions, and rewriting sessions, and more rewriting sessions, Stories from the Magic Kingdom, our debut novel, came to life. Within it's first week of publication, SFTMK became an Amazon Best Seller, something that I never thought I would be able to claim.
However, with great joy comes great challenges. At the same time as the release of Stories from the Magic Kingdom, I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). My life took a drastic turn, presenting new challenges every day. One of those challenges was that I could not visit my beloved Walt Disney World without the use of a wheelchair.
My family and I visited EPCOT one night, the very first time I had ever used a wheelchair before. We ventured around the World Showcase, and passed by Princess Aurora. And while we passed her by, it hit me. There is no magical representation for children with disabilities. They don't have a princess that they can look at and say, "Wow! She is just like me." That night, I sat down with a pencil and a sketchbook, and Princess Audrey seemed to come to life before me. The Story of Princess Audrey is my first children's book in the Happily Ever After for Everyone series.
So if you're looking for a novel for yourself, or a children's book for a loved one, I guarantee you will find your very own magic in one of these books. Happy reading, and enjoy your adventures!
